September of this year, WWF announced a forecast “the end of this century, global sea level will rise up to 120cm”.
This is a prediction of two times increment than before. Regarded as a more immediate problem of this prediction, it was created under an installation piece, “Hyakunen Umizukan ー 100 Years Ocean Picture Scroll” (Production: TEAMLAB-NET) which looks like in Japan’s traditional drawing style of 15th century, on display from December 10th at the Konica Minolta Plaza at Shinjuku in Tokyo, Japan.
This work, the actual screening time is 100 years. But currently this time scale of course can not be seen in this installation, and has been shorten and it runs in 10 minutes.
3DCG original paintings are visual techniques such as Japan made the picture more of the screen, and you can experience rising sea levels on a scale of 20m width as the actual size.
Hideaki Takahashi a.k.a Mjuc produced 10 minutes music for this installation, in wihch you can experience 100 years in this 10 minutes running sound. So they tried to create a sense of time that can make you feel the timescale of years.

今年9月のWWF (世界自然保護基金) が「今世紀末までに地球の海面は最大120cm上昇する」との予測を発表しました。
これは従来の上昇予測の約２倍という数値だそうです。この予測をより身近な問題として受け止め、
それをもと制作されたインスタレーション作品『百年海図巻ーひゃくねんうみずかん (チームラボ制作)』 が
12月10日から新宿のコニカミノルタプラザで展示されています。
この作品、実際の上映時間はなんと100年! の作品なのですが、もちろんその時間尺度で
見ることは出来ないので、今回のインスタレーションでは10分間にまとめられています。
もともと3DCGでつくられたものをさらに屏風絵のような日本絵画の手法で映像され、
幅20mのスケールで上昇する海面は実寸として体感できるようになっています。
音楽のほうは逆に10分で100年分のタイムスケールを感じられるような時間感覚を作り出すよう試みています。

From 25th June until 25th July, the sound installation “the pool” by sub-tle.+ miu will be presented at the international sound art festival “City Sonics 2009” in Mons (Belgium). Their altered swimming pool works as an autonomic musical interface to generate the audio texture from water’s behaviour, and continuously updates the soundscape inside the 14th century tower, Tour Valenciennoise, during the festival.
